Carrageenan, also known as Chondrus Crispus Gum, is a natural hydrophilic colloid extracted from marine red algae and an essential ingredient in the food industry. With more than 20 years of experience in seaweed colloid manufacturing, Fujian Greenpower Biotechnology is located in Zhangpu, Fujian, owning a 280-acre modern production base. It has built a complete industrial chain covering overseas raw material procurement, screening and processing, controlling the quality of carrageenan from the ocean source.
Raw seaweed determines the quality of carrageenan. Greenpower has set up raw material procurement centers and branch factories in Indonesia, directly sourcing high-quality eucheuma and chondrus crispus. The company grades seaweed at harvest, screening out deteriorated materials and reducing risks of heavy metal and microorganism exceeding standards. Different from manufacturers simply purchasing raw materials, Greenpower performs preliminary processing locally in Indonesia to reduce quality loss during long-distance transportation and preserve the activity of seaweed polysaccharides.
After arriving at the Zhangpu factory, raw materials go through washing, alkaline pretreatment, hot water extraction, filtration, concentration and drying. Automated production lines precisely control temperature, pH and extraction time to separate effective polysaccharides. As a high-tech and specialized enterprise, Greenpower owns an independent testing lab. Every batch undergoes full inspections to meet national food additive standards and international export requirements.
Greenpower’s carrageenan features stable gel strength and viscosity, widely applied in meat products, gummy candies and dairy products. The company adheres to sustainable raw material harvesting to balance industrial development and marine ecology. In the future, Greenpower will continuously upgrade extraction technology and supply traceable, high-quality carrageenan to global food manufacturers, building a leading domestic seaweed colloid brand.
